REVERB

REVERB is an experimental ‘Genetic Opera’ performance series created by NYC based artist Pearlyn Lii.

In 2020 we were all gaining our bearings, moving through the world not knowing what would become of society and life itself.

In 2021, we recorded and filmed as the final production performance ever, in Nokia’s Bell Labs’ Anechoic Chamber. Ironically a space with no sound, and very few people; the perfect pandemic oasis to stay creative during a time when creation felt like it was dying. We moved between Pearl Studios in Manhattan and Nokia Bell Labs. Working with state of the art equipment, talented sound engineers, and a costume tailored specifically for me, by renowned Korean-American fashion designer Ji Won Choi, Reverb bloomed.

REVERB has been performed at MoMA, Google, and the New York Times. It has also been made into a short film.
